Origin Story
It all began with one empty spot in my own home. The renovated entryway was waiting for something more than just another piece of furniture. I was looking for a bench with character. Something that would stand still and steady like a stone. Something that would not fear a coat dripping with rainwater nor collect cat hair.
As an asthmatic, it was critical for me that the materials were clean and breathable — zero volatile compounds. And most importantly: it had to feel warm and inviting under the hand, not cold and sterile.
Because I could not find such a bench, I decided to create one myself. That first bench still stands with dignity in my home today. Over the years the wood, in constant use, has only become more beautiful, telling its own story. That first experiment opened up an unexpected world to me, where aerated concrete, silky lime plaster and the warmth of natural wood meet.
Today the benches I have made have found their way into many homes. What speaks to people is precisely this singularity. Every ZeroBench is different — different curves, the grain of the wood, beetle traces and the texture of the plaster. Every detail is a story that cannot be copied. It often happens that you do not choose the bench — the bench quietly chooses you.
ZeroBench is not factory output. It is a gateway to nature in your home — a mineral energy that invites you to notice texture and feel the warmth of wood. It is the star of your entryway, welcoming guests and giving the first hint of your good taste.
An entryway bench is not simply a seat. It is the threshold zone — the boundary between the outside world and the peace of your home.
It is the moment when you stop your hurry. You set your keys down, sit for a moment and are fully present. It is a daily, conscious ritual. A transition.
Each ZeroBench is made in my studio slowly, responsibly and with love. If you need a bench that is a dialogue, not a monologue, then you have come to the right place.
